This place is horrible! I can never get ahold of anyone and when I finally do their rude/ignorant women who answer the phone hang up on you. I call back and get hung up on again! This place is ridiculous!! If I can give it zero stars I would! You ask for a supervisor, they hand up on you. They don't answer any questions nor help you in anyway!

If I could choose no stars I would. I understand that this is the county assistance office but don’t treat people this way just because they are poor and need help. Here is a list of things to expect from these people.

    1. They will schedule an interview and send out a letter with the date AFTER the interview date has passed. You will have no idea what day it was scheduled for because you won’t get a call to confirm and they rarely pick up the phone. Then they will tell you it was your fault that the application was delayed because you missed your appointment.

    2. They WILL screw up your application and benefits, make no mistake about that. When you finally do get a face to face interview double check every piece of information with them including your application date and benefit amount.

    3. If you need to go into the office be prepared to wait 3-4 hours. This is no joke. Doesn’t matter if you are elderly, pregnant or disabled. You will have to STAND the entire time in a line.
Try your best to get there as soon as it opens so you can minimize your wait time. If you are not in that line before 9 the wait will be long.

    4. If you call you will go through this ridiculous long message just to be told that their lines are busy and to try your call again later. When this happens, immediately hang up and try again. You may have to do this 2 or theee times but you will eventually be put on their queue. Be prepared to wait at least 25 minutes for someone to answer and face the fact that you may be hung up on as soon as they answer or if you start to ask too many questions that they don’t know the answer to. I know it’s hard not to get upset but if you start yelling and cursing they will most certainly hang up. I’ve had success asking for a supervisor but you may not get one right away, you will have to wait for a call back.

    4. Sometimes they mail out your letter confirming your benefits were approved and the total amount of benefits. Keep this letter in a safe place if you do get it cause they will try to tell you later on that what you thought you were getting was a figment if your imagination. This letter may help with an appeal case. I’ve had instance where no letter was ever sent out because get this... the worker never put an address in the system for me.

    5. It will take several tries/calls and a long time for them to finally straighten out your case. A lot of people give up because of all the headache of trying to get through with those people.

I know there are “good” people that work here but the whole agency is screwed up. I honestly don’t think they have enough people to handle the load and they aren’t properly trained. I understand one person making a mistake on your case but I called every single day for over a month with promises that they would get the issue fixed and still it was never corrected. Maybe if they did their JOB correct the first time they wouldn’t have to keep going over the same cases correcting errors and that would free them up to work on other cases.

Completely inefficient, rude, ignorant workers for the most part.
